Behind the angle sit element and modality

Two signs four places apart form a trine, and since the elements come round every four signs, a trine simply means the two share an element. A square, three places apart, puts two signs in the same modality of cardinal, fixed or mutable, so both push in the same manner and end up colliding. Rather than memorising the angles, hold on to that structure and it becomes obvious on its own why some angles feel easy and others feel tense.

How to read it without the terms

There is no need to get stuck on words like trine or sextile. Lay the twelve signs in a circle and simply count how many places apart the two of you are. Four places is the easy angle, three is the colliding one, six is the facing one, and two is the mildly agreeable one.
