Where to start if this is new to you

Most of the readings here need nothing but a date of birth. Saju, the day pillar, your star sign, numerology and birthstones all work that way, and you can still read them without knowing the hour you were born. Adding the hour you were born opens one more section in Saju, Saju compatibility and the twelve-period reading, and also in the daily fortune, Tojeong Bigyeol, the day pillar, the animal-sign reading and biorhythms. Without it only that one section drops away, and knowing whether it was morning or night already narrows things down, since the hour is counted in two-hour blocks. If you would rather enter nothing at all, start with the palm and face guides, or with tarot and the yut throw, where you simply read or draw.

What changes daily and what never changes

The daily fortune, the day pillar of today, the star sign reading for today, the tarot card of the day, the I Ching hexagram of the day and the lucky numbers are all drawn afresh once midnight passes. Biorhythms shift their figures with the date as well. Those are the ones worth opening again tomorrow. Saju and the day pillar, your star sign, birthstone and Kua number, on the other hand, are settled by the day you were born and return the same result however often you open them. Those read more like a reference to keep. A result that does not change is not a result that went wrong.

When two readings say different things

It happens all the time that Saju calls you cautious while your star sign calls you outgoing. The Chinese system works from the stems and branches of the moment of birth and astrology from positions in the sky, so the two are looking at different things. There is no need to decide which is correct. Where several readings say the same thing regardless, that is a pronounced trait; where they diverge, the divergence itself is worth reading.

A reading lands differently once you know a little of how it is put together. The reading section carries pieces on the groundwork of each field: the eight characters of Saju, the major arcana of tarot, the twelve houses of the zodiac. If you are not sure where to begin, look at the learning paths, which gather those same pieces into the order in which they are best learned. Please take everything here as entertainment. It is a tidying-up of stories handed down over a long time, not a device that reports what is coming. Weigh decisions that are hard to undo, such as moving house, marrying, investing or changing your name, with numbers and circumstances instead. And if something is wrong with your body, a doctor comes before a dream reading or a chart. A place to laugh once when the day feels heavy, or to sort out your own thinking before a decision, is about the right use.
